LATE MID HISTORY OF DOW JONES

Dow Jones is one of the leading companies of its type and it has been the leader of its sector since it was established in 1882 almost two decades ago by Charles Dow, Edward Jones and Charles Bergstresser. These three founders of Dow Jones have contributed by enormous amounts to the firm back in the times it was established and also in Dow Jones today.

The late mid history of Dow Jones comprise the events, renovations, new products and services of the years between 1967 until 2007. The late mid period of Dow Jones has been defined as the renovation and globalization period. Dow Jones started to make use of satellites to transmit newspaper content and this has been the first step to become a successful newspaper nationally.  Almost a decade before the internet was invented; Dow Jones used a digital system to store and code their newspapers digitally. In this period, Dow Jones also created franchises of The Journal, Newswires and Dow Jones Indexes in Europe.

The main events of the Dow Jones in the mid period are as follows; in 1967, Dow Jones Newswires started an expansion outside US and placed journalists in financial capitals of Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and Australia. In 1970 an important step which has also positively affected Dow Jones today has been taken which is that the firm purchased Ottoway Newspaper chain which was establishing nine daily and three Sunday newspapers. In 1971 a joint project with Bunker Ramo has been the electronic delivery of news contents using Dow Jones Newswires.  In 1976 The Wall Street Journal Asian edition was introduced and in 1983 the Europe edition of the journal was introduced. In 1995 the Wall Street Journal has been introduced on Internet’s best paid news web site with a different content from the actual journal. In 1997 the Dow Jones new business was established by the first licence given to Dow Jones Industrial Average and this business was called Dow Jones Indexes.

During this time period, the important events that occurred have played a vital role in the Dow Jones today and they have been successfully improved through the years.
